Job Description

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, bargaining unit position that reports to the Chair of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Education and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois.  Position begins Fall semester 2024.

 

This position includes teaching 15 credit hours per semester, which may include day or evening classes. Classes may be taught at any JWCC location in a structured setting, online, hybrid, or in an Open Learning Center. Classes taught will be a variety of music courses such as Band, Music Theory, Class Piano, and Music Appreciation.  This position will be expected to direct and grow the JWCC band.  Additionally, they will establish and maintain relationships with area high schools and the regional music community to create visibility and recognition for the program as well as to aid recruitment.

 

Requires a willingness to be involved in activities including professional development, committee membership, curriculum review, academic assessment, and participation in systematic planning for program evaluation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Master of Music (MM) or master’s degree in a closely related field plus eighteen (18) graduate hours in music. Community college teaching experience as well as experience in teaching through multiple delivery methods preferred.  Community College Band directing experience preferred. The successful candidate must be fully credentialed per Higher Learning Commission and Illinois Community College Board standards upon date of hire.

 

SALARY

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
