Job Description

Firefighter Minimum Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status
• Valid driver’s license (valid Illinois driver’s license also due at time of hire)
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at time of application deadline, unless exempt by applicable state law.
• Must provide proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with Ladder Climb Certification dated 04/27/2023 – 04/27/2024 OR must provide proof that you are signed up/scheduled to participate in the CPAT and Ladder Climb certification test conducted by a licensed agency before the interview process. If both certifications are not successfully completed at that time, you will be disqualified from the hiring process.
  • CPAT and Ladder Climb Certifications can be obtained at the following agencies:
    • NIPSTA (Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy) – Glenview, IL – www.nipsta.org or 847-998-8090.
    • Naperville CPAT Program – Naperville, IL – cpat@naperville.il.us or 630-420-6755
  • Valid Illinois Department of Public Health Paramedic license due at time of hire.
    • Applicants not currently in possession of an EMT-P license shall be allowed to complete the testing process by submitting proof of current enrollment in a State of Illinois IDPH approved paramedic program.  Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in the program by submitting a letter of good standing from the organization sponsoring their enrollment or by the course administrator, on their letterhead.
  • Complete and submit the Reimbursement Agreement for Training Costs and Expenses as well as the additional release forms/waivers and online application by 04/01/2024 at 4:00 p.m.
