State of Illinois Law Enforcement Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILESTB) as a law enforcement officer in good standing (part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement), OR candidates must hold an equivalent certification from another state (completed basic police training program/academy) which can be transferred and accepted by the ILETSB. For a conditional waiver of Illinois basic law enforcement training and reciprocity with ILESTB, you must pass all requirements, including but not limited to mandatory firearms training, Illinois Law for Police Course, and equivalency exam within six months of hire.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Must possess a valid Illinois FOID card.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants).
Must pass written examination, oral interview, polygraph, in-depth background investigation, psychological exam, and medical exam.
Residency required within DuPage County or counties contiguous to DuPage County by the end of an 18-month probationary period.
